Didn’t see us at The Domes’ Dia de Los Muertos celebration on Friday? Come shop for your own specially themed planter on Saturday at our studio! Select a bowl for only $25 each, or choose to add a plant for $35.

Please join us for music and refreshments as we celebrate the installation of 16 new bollards along Cesar Chavez Drive. The theme for the 8 bollards on the west side of the street is ”2022 Reflections on the Pandemic”. The 8 bollards on the east side of the street carry the theme “Here We Make Our Home”, honoring all groups who lived in (the 12 First Nations of Wisconsin) or settled in Milwaukee through 1920 (African Americans, Germans, Polish, Irish, and Italians).

Note: We are now located within the south building of Ascension Lutheran Church. Please park in the back parking lot and follow the driveway and signs to the back entrance. This event is indoors and masks are required.

Please join us for music and refreshments (churros, pan dulce, & ponche) as we celebrate the installation of La Familia de Arte’s newest community artwork: an installation of 12 colorfully tiled and themed concrete posts on S. Cesar Chavez Drive in collaboration with Clarke Square Neighborhood Initiative and the City of Milwaukee.

These approximately 3ft. tall pillars (or bollards), will showcase beautifully patterned tiles created by our La Familia community artists, adding to the beauty of this colorful neighborhood of Milwaukee. Each installed pillar features the combined voices of 1,800 residents of the city. The pillars on the east side of Cesar Chavez Drive honor “Everyday Heroes of the Pandemic”, with inscriptions by 900 youth and adults of their every day heroes. On the pillars on the west side, neighbors inscribed the names of their loved ones, “The Fallecidos”, who died during the Pandemic.

La Familia de Arte, Inc., Clarke Square Neighborhood Initiative, El Rey Foods, and BID 38 are inviting you and all of our neighbors to join us in inscribing tiles for the NEW United Farm Worker ceramic mural at the El Rey placita.

Over 50 years ago, the struggling migrant farm worker movement, led by Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta, was facing seemingly insurmountable odds. Dolores’ fiery response: “Si, Se Puede!” soon became a rallying cry of hope and power for people everywhere working to right injustice and build a better life for all.

What does “Si, se puede” mean to you today? Inscribe your message of hope on one of our tiles and be a part of this great history!
